Generator Interconnection Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement
TVA Power Service Area
On July 14, 2026, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) issued a Notice of Intent to prepare a programmatic environmental impact statement (PEIS) to evaluate the potential effects of transmission system activities associated with generator interconnection requests across TVA’s Power Service Area (PSA).
The PEIS will establish a programmatic, bounded framework to support efficient, consistent, and predictable National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review for generator interconnection-related transmission actions conducted under TVA’s Large Generator Interconnection Procedures (LGIP), Small Generator Interconnection Procedures (SGIP), and Expedited Resource Addition Study (ERAS). The PEIS will also support tiered, site-specific reviews where needed.
This framework will provide guidance to streamline environmental reviews associated with interconnection-driven transmission activities and help supply the region with reliable, affordable electricity to meet growing demand.
Public Involvement
TVA is releasing a Notice of Intent in the Federal Register inviting the public to submit comments on the scope of the PEIS. Comments are due by August 14, 2026. Comments can be submitted through the link below or by emailing [email protected].
The draft PEIS is tentatively scheduled for public release and comment in Fall 2026.
