TVA To Temporarily Close Road Over Wilson Dam Due to Weather Conditions

FLORENCE, Ala. – Traffic across Wilson Dam on South Cox Creek Parkway/North Wilson Dam Road near Florence, Ala., will be closed beginning at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, due to the potential for heavy rain and winter weather conditions in the area.
The roadway will remain closed through the weekend. It will re-open early next week when weather conditions have sufficiently improved to allow traffic to safely resume. Signage will be placed on both sides of the bridge and gates will be in place.
The Tennessee Valley Authority is a corporate agency of the United States that provides electricity for business customers and local power distributors serving 9 million people in parts of seven southeastern states.
TVA receives no taxpayer funding, deriving virtually all of its revenues from sales of electricity.
