TVA Asks for Comments on Proposed Power Line Project

January 13, 2014

SPENCER, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking the public for input about a transmission line project that would provide additional power for growing electric load in Van Buren County, Tenn.

TVA is proposing to build 4 to 5 miles of 161-kilovolt transmission line. The line would extend south from TVA’s existing Watts Bar Hydro-Great Falls Hydro 161-kilovolt line to Caney Fork Electric Cooperative’s new substation, to be located at the intersection of Industrial Boulevard and Drake and Shockley Road.

TVA is considering several alternate routes. The line would be built on steel pole structures centered on a 100-foot right of way.

Public input is encouraged, beginning with an open house on Jan. 23, from 3-7 p.m. CST, at the Spencer Civic Center, 445 College St., Spencer, Tenn.

Detailed maps showing the different locations for the proposed power line will be available. TVA staff will answer questions, discuss concerns and receive comments. More information is available at http:/www.tva.com/transmissionprojects.

To submit comments, contact TVA’s Jim Poston toll free at (800) 362-4355, by email at newtransline@tva.com or by mail to: Jim Poston, Tennessee Valley Authority, 1101 Market St., MR 4G, Chattanooga, TN, 37402-2801. The deadline for comments is Feb. 24.
