Alabama’s largest landfill gas-to-electricity plant opens to invited guests and a media tour. Tennessee Valley Authority to buy the power.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

News media representatives will have an opportunity to tour the facility.

The facility will generate 4.8 megawatts of clean energy, enough power to supply 2,500 average homes a year. Landfill gas, which is about 50 percent methane, is collected and converted into power. The energy generated at this facility is sold to TVA and delivered through a TVA interconnection with Sand Mountain Electric Co-op.
