TVA Economic Development Attains ‘Best Places to Work’ Distinction
April 17, 2014
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Authority’s Economic Development office in Nashville is being honored as a “best place to work” by the Nashville Business Journal.
The publication listed the TVA Economic Development headquarters among its annual “Best Places to Work” in the category for 26 to 100 employees. The rankings are in the April 18 issue.
“We’ve created an environment focused on safety, collaboration, accountability, employee development and celebrating success,” said TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley. “Our whole team is dedicated to advancing TVA’s mission of improving the quality of life for the people we serve in the region.”
The nomination included a confidential survey in which employees rated their workplace in categories that included teamwork, leadership, benefits and work engagement.
Bradley added that the Economic Development group is highly engaged and enthusiastic about creating a positive culture, which makes the recognition an “exciting accomplishment.”
TVA’s Economic Development team works to attract new jobs and help existing businesses thrive by partnering with customers and regional, state and local economic development agencies. Despite a slowly recovering economy, the group helped attract or retain almost 52,000 jobs and generate nearly $5 billion in capital investment across the TVA region in 2013. Also, for the eighth straight year, TVA was named one of Site Selection magazine's Top 10 North American utilities for economic development.
TVA Economic Development offers a variety of programs to help businesses and industries that are considering the Valley as a new location or area for expansion. These programs provide assistance including readily available sites and buildings, financing options, technical services, research and sustainability options. Community preparedness and retail development are also key components of TVA’s economic development efforts in the region. For more information, visit www.TVAed.com.
