TVA Asks for Comments on Proposed Power Line Project

April 10, 2013

SOUTH PITTSBURG, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking the public for input about a transmission line project that would provide additional power for industrial expansion in Marion County in Southeastern Tennessee.

TVA is proposing to build four to six miles of 161-kilovolt transmission line. The line would extend south from TVA’s existing Nickajack-Raccoon Mountain 161-kilovolt transmission line to Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative’s new substation, to be located off East 10th Street on the former National Guard Armory property.

TVA is considering several alternate routes. The line would be built on steel pole structures centered on a 100-foot right of way.

Public input is encouraged, beginning with an open house on April 25, from 3-7 p.m. CDT, at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 306 5th St., South Pittsburg, Tenn.

Detailed maps showing the different locations for the proposed power line will be available. TVA staff will answer questions, discuss concerns and receive comments. More information is available at http://www.tva.com/power/projects/.

To submit comments, contact TVA’s Chris Columber toll free at 800-362-4355, by email at newtransline@tva.com or by mail to: Chris Columber, Tennessee Valley Authority, 1101 Market St., MR 4G, Chattanooga, TN, 37402-2801. The deadline for comments is May 28.
